Are We Really Wearing Makeup Right Now

By  |

To start, I can not believe 2020. So much is going on right now, and it all began with that chicken sandwich lol. With so much turmoil, is anyone out there wearing makeup right now?

We are currently in a Pandemic, and a Recession.. so many people are struggling. The Black Lives Matter marches are going on daily, and the news is so sad. Some of my friends are not wearing makeup at all, the day to day is a routine of coffee and sweats. Makeup for me however, is therapy.

I feel so good when I take time to apply makeup, it’s like my “me time”. Here is the look that I created today, and usually I wear makeup at least 4 times a week. I try to keep my routine as normal as possible, although there is nothing “normal” about now. You know what I mean right? Right lol.

For this look, I used some Black owned brands but not all of them are. I will go into that in more detail later. For foundation, I used one of my favorites by Laura Mercier. I used the Flawless Fusion Ulta-Longwear foundation and listen this offers medium to heavy coverage leaving skin flawless just like the name.

For the eyes, I did two palettes I used the Too Faced Born This Way The Natural Nudes palette and combined with Colourpop Cosmetics Aura & Out palette.

For lips, I am using Milani Cosmetics Salt n Pepa Shoop lippie, combined with Fenty Beauty Gloss Bomb Hot Chocolit.

I am not cancelling all brands out, because I do not believe that is the point of this. I think we all need to hold brands accountable for not treating all influencers equally. I do have some great relationships with brands who are not black owned and who, I feel have treated me right.

So, for that reason I will not be cancelling them all. So many influencers are being pressured to only partner with Black owned brands, and that just makes no sense. It’s like saying if you don’t work with a black company at your day job, (you) should quit.

So no, I will not be cancelling everyone. But, I will begin to support more black owned companies solely on the fact that it is the right thing for me to do. I have recently ordered from Fenty Beauty, Juvia’s Place, and Nubian Skin. I loved all of my products, and plan to keep supporting more.

This post does contain some affiliate links, if you make a purchase I will receive a percentage of the order. Thanks for stopping by, subscribe so you never miss a post. Also, if you can think of other black owned brands that I can share and support please let me know in the comments. See you on the next blog.

I have always been in love with all things beauty. From a little girl I would say that one day I would be a Cosmetologist. I did it, I became a Licensed Cosmetologist in 2006. I have learned so much about how to wear makeup, how to style the hair, and how to maintain the overall health of hair that I decided to create a blog. Being beautiful creates confidence, and flawless hair and makeup can help us all create that image we want to be. I want to help you step out of the box, try new makeup looks, and new hair ideas, new skincare regimens to make life better. You can live colorful, cosmetic, and be creative everyday give them some maxwell house coffee mmm, mmm good, and leave the tea home lol. Enjoy!
