Protective Styles For Natural Hair While Staying Home

By  |

Protective styles are the perfect way to let the hair rest.  Since we are staying home because of the Coronavirus, I wanted to take time to share a few protective styles that I am loving.

You may ask what is protective styling? Protective styles are styles that require low manipulation, and are meant to encourage hair growth.  Protective styling is also great because they save so much time.

There are many types of protective styles:

  • Twist
  • cornrows
  • bantu knots
  • Roller sets
  • Rod sets
  • Flexi rod sets
  • Twist with bantu knots on ends
  • Braid outs

Lately, I have been loving the bantu knot.  Here is an example of a bantu knot look that I created:

Here is the how to create this look:

Twist outs  are another favorite of mine, lately I like to wear them up in a updo style.  To achieve this look, you can use a shoe string to tie around the hair.  Most natural hair is too thick for ponytail holders.

Products that I recommend for protective styling:

Taliah Waajid Green Apple & Aloe Line

Apple & Aloe Nutrition Shampoo– this shampoo cleanses the hair well removing all build up. Made with green apple, aloe, and coconut it strengthens while moisturizing the hair.  It offers great slip, and balances the pH level for both hair and scalp.

Apple & Aloe Nutrition Apple Cider Deep Conditioner– I love this conditioner.  I recommend going under the dryer for 30 minutes to deeply moisturize the hair.  It leaves my hair feeling soft, and moisturized.  Highly recommended for color-treated hair.

Apple & Aloe Nutrition Leave-In Conditioner- lightweight leave-in that I love.  Great for detangling and conditioning the hair.

Apple & Aloe Nutrition Apple Seed Oil– this oil feels so good on the scalp. This oil has sweet almond oil, avocado oil, argan oil and bergamont oil.

(Styler) Apple & Aloe Nutrition Curl Definer– this is a thick styler, a little goes a long way.  I have never had a problem with flaking!  This moisturizer is great for defining curls, and is fortified with vitamins and protein.  This styler is recommended for thick, coarse hair types. Type 4 curls.

I have always been in love with all things beauty. From a little girl I would say that one day I would be a Cosmetologist. I did it, I became a Licensed Cosmetologist in 2006. I have learned so much about how to wear makeup, how to style the hair, and how to maintain the overall health of hair that I decided to create a blog. Being beautiful creates confidence, and flawless hair and makeup can help us all create that image we want to be. I want to help you step out of the box, try new makeup looks, and new hair ideas, new skincare regimens to make life better. You can live colorful, cosmetic, and be creative everyday give them some maxwell house coffee mmm, mmm good, and leave the tea home lol. Enjoy!
